Bridge Signal Lantern

Overhead bridge signal lantern used by some Eastern railroads in the 1920's through to the 1950's. Manufactured by Peter Gray & Sons who specialized in the production of lanterns and other stamped metal products specifically for railroads. By the 1920's, they were the leading manufacturer in the New England area. This type of daylight overhead signal lantern was used on railroads such as the New Haven and the New York, Westchester & Boston Rlwys. In excellent condtion considering its age. Some scratches on the housing. Bulb missing but otherwise intact. Sliding panels on front and rear of housing. Service sticker shows last serviced in 1952.
