Canadian Pacific Railway Silver Plated Flower Vase

(very rare – circa 1920's – bought directly from CPR in the mid 70's)

CPR exited the passenger train business in the early 1970's. They sold all of their silverware used in their dining cars through their own shop called "CP Bygones". This vase was purchased directly from CP Bygones and stored for 30+ years. Vase usually contained a rose or spring flowers at each dining car table. Underside of base of vase engraved "Elkington & Co." (Sheffield, England) with Elkington logos, style number 21880 and "A.T. Wiley, Montreal" (Canadian distributor). CPR scripted logo on base of vase (see 2nd photo). This style of vase dates back to the 1910's-1920's.

Item was quadruple plated and has stood up well for its decades of use. Has a some minor scratches and nicks on top of flute - see close up photo (note: the blue and brown colors on the top of the vase photo and what appears to be a 'bolt' on the script close up shot are reflections only). Colorations around fluting are only reflections.

This same vase is currently listed at $500 on another railroad collectible website.
