CPR exited the passenger train business in the early 1970's. They sold all of their passenger train related items and other CPR miscellaneous items through their 'in house' retail shop "CP Bygones". They closed shop in 1978.
ITEM: This Fairbanks Morse builders plate comes from a very rare H-16-44 class diesel locomotive, with serial number 2962 built by the Canadian Locomotive Works in April, 1957. This builders plate also comes with the "Powered by Fairbanks Morse" plate taken from the same unit. Both were bought as a set directly from CPR in the mid 70's by this seller (bill of sale can be provided upon request). Builders plate still has the ID tag attached by the "Bygones" staff. There are some marks around the top and bottom mounting holes caused by removal from the locomotive. There is some black paint along the bottom of the "Powered" plate (see last photo) which can be easily removed. Otherwise in remarkable shape considering these plates are over 50 years old. Shipping fee includes insurance.
